Retired NFL star takes one look at Madison Beer & gets why Herbert’s struggling, ALCS empty seats & NFL memes
Welcome to Screencaps, “America’s Best Daily Column,” as named by the readers. Screencaps, which publishes seven-days-a-week, is a mix of sports, pop culture, and emails from sane readers from around the world. This column isn’t for the coastal elites. Give us a week to steal your heart. Our track record is pretty good. Let’s have some fun.
Make it make sense. Herbert’s QB rating since entering the NFL has never dropped below 93.2. His completion percentage has never been lower than 65%. Through five weeks of the 2026 season, the Chargers QB’s completion percentage is below 60% and his QB rating is an eye-opening 70.2.
We’re talking absolutely stunningly terrible stats.
But, now, it’s all starting to make sense to guys like Ochocinco who had no idea what’s waiting for Herbert when he gets home – his fiancée Madison Beer. Here’s what happened when Ocho took one look at Beer to see what’s going on.
“Let me see what she looks like… OH SH*T! I don’t too much put cream in my coffee, but I get it,” the former Bengals wide receiver told Shannon Sharpe.
Guys, I’ve been saying it over and over since those training camp videos surfaced. I even went out and found a body language expert to tell me what was going on between Herbert and Beer. The body language expert swore that the camp hangouts were positive.
I was of the opinion that Herbert’s brain is scrambled right now. It looks like I’ve been proven right. Perhaps I’m the expert here. I have 20 years of Internet experience to tell me that a QB’s not focused. Through five weeks, it’s advantage old Internet guy.

This story was relayed in the text group this morning. One of the guys we go on golf trips with found himself out for a dinner cruise with his wife the other night. After a seafood dinner, he decided to take a shortcut home by going a different route around an island between Toledo and Monroe, MI.
Yep, he hit a sandbar. Yep, he has a big boat. Three hours later, he received the bill: $10,800.
I’ve never owned a boat. Is that high?
– Michael C. has stories to share: I wish it were true that the golf integrity problem just started in the last decade. Unfortunately, it has been going on for a long time. Maybe because today, there are more long-legged blondes on the courses, it’s getting more attention.
My experience in the pro ams is that many amateurs don’t like to admit how high their real handicap is when they play with a pro. I always started off letting the pros know that I was real 18 and that golf was my hobby not my job. The best story I have is one year I was playing in the Sony Pro Am and was paired up with Brett Wetterich and a couple of guys I didn’t know.
They claimed to be 4 and 6 handicaps. They were obviously lying because they didn’t have the mechanics and their shots were all over the course except straight. Halfway through the round, we were about 200 yards from the green with a slight incline. Brett took out a 6 iron and laid it in the middle of the green near the flag.
The two guys asked Brett’s caddie what club he hit and he told them it was a 6 iron. They started to pull out 6 irons and the caddie rushed over and told them to put the irons back in the bag and use their fairway woods. They didn’t get close to the green. I hit a 3 iron to the edge of the green. I enjoyed that hole just because of the caddie’s reaction. Integrity didn’t get them a 4 and 6 handicap.
Also, keep in mind that pro-ams are usually best ball tournaments. Their putts probably didn’t matter and it was for YouTube clicks.
– Daren got in on this topic: Hey Joe. My weird take is I often didn’t keep score. Told folks I didn’t have an handicap for that reason. College matches/practices, playing with my dad or betting, of course I did. I kept it mentally for myself but no, Gee, I just shot par. Often we played crowded munis, etc. Your tee ball is 6″ ob, I’m not headed back for distance penalty.
I would drop 6″ inside and, mentally, give myself a 2 stroke penalty. When I was getting better, I spent a bunch of time trying to teach myself to turn my irons left/right for approach. Gee, that fade just went 30 yards offline.
For gimmes, no. If everyone is inside of 18″, it should not bother pace of play for everyone to putt out. An example why I feel it’s important. Was playing a CC course in Fayetteville, NC, during a college tourney. The greens were very fast and rolling. On a dog leg left 5 par, a lake all along the left, I hit a great long iron 2nd to 12″. Above the hole. Well, 2nd putt was from 20+ feet. Missed that one too. Oops. Kinda think finishing is important. Well, that’s just me.

– Jeff B. in Indiana on the decline of Hooters: You bring up Hooters’ struggles in Screencaps (the BEST daily column in the history of daily columns!) and I might have an idea why…
During a road trip to Colorado last week, I stopped at a Hooters to grab some wings and a beer for lunch. The place was slow, just me and 3 other seated patrons. My wings came out SUPER greasy (you can see in the picture the bottom of the serving was nothing but oil/grease) and my fries were lukewarm at best.
That much grease made every wing except the first two soggy and not nearly as good as Hooters wings were just 10 years ago. I ate them, because I was famished, but I should have sent them back and asked the cook to drain the wings better. Also, not sure what they did, but their hot sauce has changed as well.

When the quality of the food takes such a dramatic decline, it’s understandable that people stop going there, even if the “scenery” is easy on the eyes.

And that is it for this mid-October morning, the day after a record high. Things are about to cool off here. They’re saying possible wind chills in the 20s here this weekend. Mrs. Screencaps already told me she’s figuring out her cozy sweater/long sleeve shirt rotation. I’m told there are midweight sweater levels. A midweight fall shirt, she says.
